Lisa Shanahan is essentially a self taught artist. Her practice began as early as she can remember at the guidance of her father, also an artist. In the mid 1980's Lisa briefly attended Monash University studying Fine Art, however funds and itchy feet meant that this was a short lived exercise.
Despite no formal long term study in Fine Arts Lisa has practiced and developed her passion for painting consistently over the years. Through out her life the artist has worked in over nine Galleries, ran her own small Gallery and Open Studio, worked in the fields of Fashion, Textile Design, Landscape Design & Gardening as well as Interior Design. Along side several stints teaching within her fields of expertise privately and within more formal education environments. All of these experiences have added to the artistic language and aesthetics she employs today.
Born in Canada to Australian parents in 1966 Lisa now lives in Far North Queensland although spent many years in Inner Melbourne as well as some time overseas and in the Central Victorian town of Daylesford.
Lisa now works full time as an artist from her home studio situated just north of Port Douglas.
